Shetland pony gelding
- Out of stock
Shetland ponies are miniature in size but not in performance.
Named for the Scottish isles where they called home, Shetland ponies became a hardy breed as they survived the harsh weather and lack of food. Employed for helping out with the chores on the farm and in mines, this breed proved its strength and gained recognition. Today, Shetlands are ubiquitous in the roles that they serve. They are shown by adults and children, enjoyed at petting zoos, followed as guide horses, and seen doing tricks at fairs and carnivals. Good at what they do, these ponies are gentle, intelligent, and enjoy long lives of thirty years or more.
Fun Facts: As the strongest of all horses and ponies in terms of size, Shetland ponies can pull twice their weight.
