Squirrels have a little body that ends in a big, bushy tail.
Living alone or with friends in their drey (nest), squirrels spend most of their day finding food. Except for a mid-morning nap, squirrels are on the lookout for leaves, grass, twigs, and other items for their nest as well as nuts and seeds to eat. With bright eyes and sensitive whiskers, these rodents sharpen their senses and keep watch for predators like birds. Squirrels are very clever but they sometimes forget where they have buried their food. When the seasons change, squirrels feed on insects and caterpillars while some store food for hibernation.
Fun Facts: Squirrels make nests the size of footballs and wrap themselves up in their tail on cold nights.
